Beyond Gender
Beyond Gender is a research collective which was founded in 2018 by myself and a group of other researchers of queer, trans, feminist science fiction
We are interested in pushing the conversation about science fiction and gender beyond the basic issue of women’s representation in the genre
By collectively reading novels, stories, essays and zines, watching films and playing games we are exploring the many queer and wondrous worlds of science fiction together
By writing together, organising workshops, speaking at conferences and teaching classes we are encouraging everyone to see what gender could be if we were willing to acknowledge its strangeness
Over the years our number has grown as we move further beyond gender

Utopian Acts
Utopian Acts is a research network which Raphael Kabo and I started in 2018
We wanted to talk about how utopianism could be put into practice
Utopias are not just dreams, or even plans for better worlds
They are spaces, communities, actions which can be felt in the here and now
Joining with activists and scholars from around the world we have been studying utopianism ever since
